The Mechanics of the Incomplete Word

Just as we experience a certain difficulty in understanding some people in their statements — either because we have never set foot on that level, due to too little knowledge, or because it is too abstract — we overchallenge or underchallenge our counterpart. So we sometimes skimp on explanation and assume that our counterpart understands our intention. Big mistake. Big danger.

 

It can happen that this frugality sends out a different direction than that of the intention as its effect. In public space, in politics, or in discourse, this is instantly magnified. Following from this, what can be understood is:

 

  1. A misunderstood confirmation – Conceding a partial aspect is judged as a general yes.

  2. A deception about the actual disposition – The mental shortcut is defined as an ideological standpoint.

  3. A style template for the enemy – The sentence is torn out of context and becomes ammunition for the opposing side.

  4. A moral false statement – An analytical thought is branded as moral betrayal.

     

Assuming that the counterpart receives the same analyses from the content as oneself must be admitted as arrogance.

It is the illusion of mental synchronization in a fragmented world.

The consequence of not setting it right or not recognizing the aberration within the social or political field of impact:

  1. Burned in one's own field of impact / with the friend – Exclusion from one's own bubble because the purity of dogma was violated.

  2. Ascended in the oppositional field of impact / with the enemy – Cynical co-optation by the opposing side, which suddenly falsely celebrates one.

     

What then?
Disappear, feel ashamed, suffer?

Or the attempt at an explanation, how and why, the entire background.

The problem remains systemic: It will be others who experience the correction. The counterpart who did not understand—because the description of the intention was skimped on, VERY IMPORTANT—will not experience the correction.

Their image has solidified. Disappointment and turning away. So deaf and blind to what continues to come from this direction.
